Me Gusta La Vespa

This commercial could be real. Maybe it's one of those new advertisements that does weird and old timey things to keep it ironic and cool for younger generations? Then again, maybe it's fake. But who cares! These ladies had one hell of a fun day with the wind, or fan, in their hair and got to do a really cool dance. Especially the hip shimmy at 1:41. So all in all, everyone's a winner. OLE!

White Rabbits

This morning, somewhere between my usual two scoops of daily fun - The View and the Gilmore Girls - I started thinking about one of my favorite bands NYC, White Rabbits.  That's weird I guess.  Regardless of the strange timing and sequence of thoughts, I went hunting for a taste of their new release "It's Frightening" out in May, on their website and found some amazing photos of the band throughout their recording and touring process.  Did you know that Britt Daniel from Spoon produced this album because of an accidental text message? No? Neither did I! Read this Paste article for more nuggets from the band.

Bottom line? The photos by Andrew Droz Palermo are AMAZING.  Below are a few morsels of joy for your eye balls and here's the website for more.

The Dead Weather

The best frontman I've ever seen live in concert is Jack White. By miles. I saw him twice last year: once at Terminal 5 with the Raconteurs and then a few months later at Bonnaroo. I was there working when my trusty camera man and I finagled our way backstage with our photo passes. While all other riffraff production people were given the swift boot from the area, we somehow managed to look legit enough to not only stand on stage being Jack White and company, but we followed them from their dressing room onto the stage capturing the electrifying moment of when the crowd first caught a glimpse of the milky white messiah of rock and roll. So that's why I am excited about his new project: The Dead Weather.

It's Jack and Allson from the kills. Me likes what me hears! (That's my leprechaun in honor of St. Patrick's Day today......but when I think about it, it seems much more like something a pirate would say.)

Check out them out here.

Clear Eyes, Full hearts

I watch tv from time to time. Do you? If that's a no then, well then maybe you should take a serious look at your life. So here's there thing: The best show on television is Friday Night Lights. If you're not watching it, I think you're a fool. A nice fool though, because you are here, reading this. It's on on Friday night. Isn't that so crazy?! The thing is, by Friday, you come home from work and you're focused on the weekend, thinking about tomorrow, what to eat for dinner, or how come you don't have a million dollars and a puppy. Those last ones may be just me. The point is, when you are done pondering your next move for the weekend you've been anxiously awaiting for 5 torturous days, you usually plot down on the couch to surf for some mindless entertainment. Then you remember. You remember that there, on your DVR, waiting for you is one hour of flawless programming. For those of you that watch the show, you know what I'm saying. If you don't, start. Suckers.

Can I be this guy's friend or something?

Commercials are silly. I usually don't watch them as I am the most accurate DVR fast forwarder ever. But there are rare occasions where I have had to sit through ads on the television box which makes me feel old and handicapped. Just when I'm wallowing in the torture, something like this comes into my living room.

A performance of such perfection as Trent's, the map guy, cannot go unnoticed. It should be rewarded....with blog posts...by someone who's opinion doesn't matter. So Trent, in honor of the best delivery of one word ever in a commercial, I applaud you.

He is the sweetest guy. Have you ever looked into his eyes? It was like the first time I heard the Beatles.

This is Gema.

Gema is an enigma. I know zero people as interesting as her. She is a wonderful, one of a kind jewel that I discovered in 2006. We were at a Dirty Pretty Things concert, both flying solo. We met in the front row and quickly discovered that we were soul mates, two peas in a pod, amigas. This is what happened after that.

Then, about one and a half months after we met, we flew to London together to see a Babyshambles concert. This trip resulted in some of the most memorable moments of my life, including almost getting killed/suffocated (3 times) in a massive heap of fellow Pete Doherty fans. I also got in fights with multiple fast food workers in London. Like, can’t you just give me a LITTLE more ice in my fountain soda, sir?

Shortly after we figured out we had sick taste in music, we did what anyone would do: we became DJs, forming the unstoppable force that is Glenn Coco. Glen Coco hasn’t had a gig in a while so feel free to hire us. You don’t know what you’re missing. Aaaaand we’re cheap. But not like that.

We go to festivals too.

Then, with my wonderful friend Kari, we took another trip to London for giggles. On the platform in this picture was a family of 12 baby mice. Don't let the word "baby" fool you, fellas. There were 12. Gema and I sought safety elevated railing. Kari looked on in disgust at our cowardice.

She drives a car that moonlights a robot/transformer and when the top folds down, she likes to act like she’s being attacked by aliens, simply to make onlookers feel awkward. She's the best. See?

Sneaky, sneaky...

Hello there, you. This is just an introduction to this new thing I’m doing now, called “blogging.” Have you heard of such things? This blog, as the kids are calling it, will consist purely of all things Beeks. That’s what some call me, affectionately, of course. I’m going to talk about everything from stuff, things, nuggets, to the trappings of my mind, be it family, fashion, wonderful junk on the television, ones I love, ones I don’t, shoes… and many other things of course like auxiliary luxuries of my life. So enjoy!

PS - I'm not that sneaky...
